RECLA's mission is to ensure the well-being and safety of LGBTQ+ students by holding LAUSD accountable for implementing policies and allocating resources that transform cultural and structural systems to end transphobia, homophobia, white supremacy and cis-heteropatriarchy. We are a grassroots campaign led by educators, students, parents, and community members with a mission to create safer and more inclusive environments for all students in LAUSD schools.
RECLA was founded in 2019, to ensure accountability and implementation of LAUSD resolutions and policies in support for LGBTQ+ youth. The anchor organizations and its coalition members work together to advocate for the following demands:
- Creating a district wide accountability network
- Having goals/objectives in schools "Single Plan for Student Achievement"
- See budgetary investments in programs and resources
