At the Latino Equality Alliance (LEA), we are dedicated to advocating for justice and equality for the LGBTQ+ community. Our advocacy efforts focus on addressing and dismantling systemic barriers that affect LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those from Latinx backgrounds. Through policy work, community organizing, and coalition building, we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable society. Our initiatives include advocating for comprehensive anti-discrimination laws, supporting immigrant rights, and ensuring access to healthcare and education for all. Our community programs, Mi Centro and Mi SELA, are at the heart of LEA's mission to support and empower the Latinx LGBTQ+ community. MiCentro serves as a vibrant community center in Boyle Heights, offering a safe and welcoming space for individuals to connect, find support, and access resources. Mi SELA, our South East Los Angeles initiative, extends our reach to underserved areas, providing critical services such as mental health support, HIV prevention, and youth programs. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to foster a sense of belonging and solidarity, ensuring that every member of our community feels seen, heard, and valued.
Celebrating the achievements and potential of our LGBTQ+ youth is a cornerstone of LEA's educational initiatives. Each year, we award scholarships to outstanding young individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to advancing LGBTQ+ rights. Our scholarship winners come from diverse backgrounds and pursue a wide range of fields, from the arts and sciences to social justice and public service.
